There is a lot of talk these days about what is being called "The Great Resignation." And I don't typically like to put labels on anything because I don't want it to be the "idea" or the "fan du jour." But the reality is that talent has taken on an entirely different element and an entirely different focus. And the expectations of a lot of our employees is really that they have greater flexibility. So while compensation is important, coming out of the pandemic, having that flexibility, having the opportunity to say, "You know what? I couldn't do the things I might have done in the past because of location, or because of the requirement to relocate or move."

And the reality today, not only in recruiting staff but in retaining staff, is to provide them that flexibility with either virtual or hybrid work arrangements. Where they can still be part of the culture and really come to enjoy the teamwork that is critical to the success of an organization, but also critical to their own development. But to be able to do so somewhat on their own terms: where they have the ability to be flexible and to have greater work-life balance.
